At the welcome orientation, we'll cover your full itinerary, facilitate a meet and greet with your fellow travelers, and if you've ordered ahead, fit you for your custom African print clothing. Your first evening will be spent enjoying a traditional Ghanaian dinner, introducing you to the local flavors and setting the stage for a night of vibrant entertainment.

Independence Day Tour
Explore the history and culture in Accra, the country’s capital city during the Accra City Tour. Here you will learn more about the origins of the city and prominent Ghanaian and African Diaspora leaders such as Kwame Nkrumah and WEB Dubois. Participate in a ceremony at the Diaspora African Forum where you can honor past relatives by sponsoring their name on the Remembrance wall.

Life like a Local Day
Immerse yourself in the vibrant daily life of Ghana with a day dedicated to local experiences. Begin at Makola Market, a bustling hub where you can haggle over colorful textiles and exotic spices. Then, join a Jollof Making Class to learn the art of crafting Ghana’s beloved dish under the guidance of a local chef. Continue to Jamestown, an area rich in history and culture, and absorb the lively atmosphere and street art. Cap off your day with a unique experience aboard a Trotro, the traditional Ghanaian bus, mingling with locals and exploring the city from their perspective. This day promises a deep dive into the authentic heart of Ghanaian culture.

Diaspora History Day
Cape Coast Slave Dungeon is the place where they held slaves before they were loaded onto ships and sold in the Americas. This door of no return was the last stop before crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Given this will be a very emotional and thought provoking experience, we will have a debrief session over lunch to discuss and process the atrocities of those events.
